<div>Rd 2 of Pro/AML League and Alpha Reunion open their account with a 9-7 edge-of-seat victory over the reformed Gods.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Starting with Mighty Sven, fuego, ugly duckling and 11th hour signing Weasal, the match began as a cautious lob-fest through the boxes at the bottom of the map, the lev bombs of Genocide keeping direct confrontations at a minimum. A lot of reps had already been worn off the enemy and there was a bit of discussion on what level of engagement was now appropriate. Patience wore thin for both teams after about 10 minutes and the first blood was drawn by Gods at the expense of illustrious leader Mighty Sven.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Poise deserted AR for the next few minutes, and by the 15 minute mark Gods had a 3-0 lead. But while the noobiest of the squad may have felt the bile of panic rising (*cough*), not so the coolheaded chastising of fuego, who led the way to regrouping and stopping the rot. Indeed, a few minutes later, AR had recovered equal scoreboard footing with their opponents at 3-3, all deaths to six different players.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>The fighting that followed was more reserved and defensive, as stalemate #2 drew out to seven minutes duration, before Weasal dropped his second life, and a few minutes later fuego fell to one remaining ship - possibly with intent to get some toys back and get after the repless.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Gods' Adept lost his second life shortly after, and there was one ship in it, but then Mighty Sven was killed, and immediately after ugly duckling dropped his first. The lead had again blown out to a margin of 3.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>It was somewhere in here that someone (I dunno who) seemed trapped in a box by two opponents, but despite two offensive reps made it out safe. This was a massive turn of events as suddenly Gods had a far worse store of reps than before the incident. Sure enough. Genocide fell to one life left immediately afterwards, and ysymmij lost his first ship as well.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>The blowout happened at the 35 minute mark when Genocide died for the third time, possibly moments before subbing out as Gods had just started to ring in their subbing at that time. Adept was pulled for Jackol and Weezie for skipper BloodyEssence. Further complicating their own quest for glory, rules naivete saw these players burned.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>At the same time, fuego suffered a couple of lagouts, and ended up burned himself. But the AR pressure was relentless now that they were 4v3 and within a couple of minutes it was 4v2 when ugly duckling took out the one-life-erroneously-burned- new-sub Jackol.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>But the consternation had only just begun at this point, as moments afterwards ugly duckling (rated AR's best player by the bot) also lagged out, and was unable to return. Then the two subs in waiting both found out they couldn't sub in. While arguments ensued of who'd done what wrong and how to fix the snubbing of the subbing, approximately two minutes passed while fuego rifled through the paperwork with two ships firing at his windshield. Somewhat akin to A BOSS, fuego shuffled away delightfully in time and continued screaming at the rest of the team while everyone else screamed back at him, and at each other. I'm sure I saw some yanking of pigtails and someone had a bra strap torn off.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>BadLamb alleviated the furore by eventually guessing caerbannog's sub safe lock combination and entered to replace ugly duckling. This was at about the 40 minute mark. Back to 4v2 and AR slowly regained composure.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>With a 1 ship lead overall, fuego entered "run" as his macro and sat a weight on the relevant key. Then, in the final minute, he decided that "run" was non-specific as to whether from, or at, and explodiated ysymmij's second ship to bring the score to 9-7 Alpha's way.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>For the last 45 seconds there was a chase on to get Bloody Essence without endangering AR's own ships, but he proved too elusive and went on to finish 10 minutes of play with the stats of a perfect row of donuts. The final siren blew, and a sigh of relief - rather than jubilation - sounded throughout the Alpha Reunion camp. The final score was Alpha Reunion 9-7 Gods, with MVP awarded to Weezie for scoring DmgE 9% lower than second worst , runner-up was AR's ugly fu... err ... duckling.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>The match itself was generally regarded by the viewing public as a very good one to watch, and will probably set up the return match as a vengeance-based bloodfest in the eyes of the very brave and dogged Gods. To have AR in a 3-ship deficit twice is sure to cause quite a smoulder.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Next weekend the victorious AR team meet Unhallowed which surely will be a litmus test ... for Unhallowed. Gods take on Rebels where again, the opportunity to learn how they're travelling will flesh itself out a little more. Hopefully both teams will have swotted up on the subbing rules by then </div>
<div> </div>
<div>Alpha Reunion's stocks look to be further bolstered by Round 3 with the addition of Ensure and Xena. to the roster. WELL IF THEY'VE EVER BEEN THERE ONCE IT COUNTS.</div>
