Newbie bashing is rampant in other games as well. I've been playing League of Legends for... I dunno, about 6 weeks? now, the game is only two years old and has what 32 million players. Granted I'm stuck on the worst realm possible, EUNA with the polish/russian people who really cannot communicate in English at all, but still.
Given the games happen too fast and with random people so you can't work on a newbie even if you try, you will just get a new newbie the next game, people go around yelling at newbies, while in fact they are the ones that screw up. In SVS settings though, the skill gap is insane. Possibly comparable to playing 5 random newbies vs. a team of 5 in counter-strike, or matching up people who have to read tooltips to find out where their units fire (Dre) in starcraft vs. random koreans who know every stat of every unit <img src='http://www.subspace.co/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='
