I voted "other". I'm with Nine, no safe zones for weenies to run and hide in.
Hallu, could you address how a 9 hour safe does/will/might impact the dynamic frequency size? For example, 5 people sitting in safe and 5 people actaully playing , does this allow for a 3 or 4 man freq, when otherswise when only 5 people are playing the freq size would be lower? Or do things work in a different way?

Currently, 4 man freqs don't kick in until 19 pilots, 5 man at 29, so it's not much of a factor.

wait, are you fucking serious? nine hours? that's no worse than people sitting in spec in an empty zone taking up player slots. i get excited as shit when i see chaos has 150+ players, then disappointed when 90% of them are in spec. nine hours. nigga you crazy.

I believe a 9 hour safe (or even longer) would [in the long run] increase the amount of players because people would leave the game open, and it's a lot easier to be enticed to play the game if it's already open.
People will complain for a bit, but as I said in the long run I believe more people would play, or be inclined to play with longer safe zones.
I find running to safe is more admirable then pressing ESC+Q .... not mentioning any names.
Sometimes people want the freedom to green some reps without being chased by 4 people, it makes the game what it is.
Plus going to safe provides many opportunities to get bursted, or mess up and bounce wrong and get taken out.. a lot of big kills happen around safe zones..
The very act of running to safe most times gets people killed therefore I don't see a problem with it.
I still think more people would be inclined to play if the game was already open and sitting there in their taskbar.

Yikes, I log onto the forum for the first time in ages, and this is up for discussion again?
First off, the sampling bias on this poll is probably horrendous. Do you think the players that log into Chaos for ten to thirty minutes for some quick fun or those that stay logged in all day are more likely to visit the forum? Even if the poll was placed in the zone and run by a bot, those frequenting the safe zones would be more likely to give input, I imagine. So, I hope no long term decisions will be made based on this poll.
High bounty sitting in a nine hour safe zone serves absolutely no attraction to bounty hunt. In fact, it'd discourage me from hunting someone not in a safe zone if I thought they would take advantage of a sit-for-hours tactic. I always did enjoy the forty-five minute safe zones as they gave time to run out, and get more beer or a bite to eat while keeping your freq (although twenty to thirty minutes would have worked fine for me). Anything longer than that is ridiculous. As for Cool Dad's hour and a half vote, my experience is that your bounty seems to be saved for a couple of hours usually as long as you time out in a safe zone.
Also, the difference between forty-five minute and nine hour safe zones is huge in terms of play in my opinion. In a forty-five minute safe zone, a player has to keep the game in the back of their mind or they're going to time out. If you're a player drooling over the bounty in a safe zone, you can be pretty sure that a player in a forty-five minute safe zone has an intention of playing in the next few hours, or they would have logged out to save the hassle of resetting the timer every forty-five minutes. You have no such indication from a player in a nine hour safe zone.
I voted for fifteen minutes as it seems to be the only reasonable option under consideration at the moment, and although not my favorite, it really is the most balanced safe zone time of the bunch. It allows exactly what the safe zones were intended for: a bathroom break, a stretch, a talk on the phone, or a beer from the fridge. Right now, the poll seems to be twelve votes for some sort of reasonable time, thirteen votes for nine hours. Considering the likely bias, I'd say the nine hours safe zones should be nixed.

Where is the 24 hours option. 45 mins is too short. I've found this out on multiple occasions over the last couple of weeks.
Should rewrite the streak algorithm to stop if player stays in safe over 15 mins if possible.

I ike this concept of extending safe time but having streak expire at an earlier point.
And the best current streak of 1 kill @ 78bty over 44 minutes for Nude For Satan has ended through to a safe zone overstay!

i can't remember what i voted for, but anything over an hour is just stupid as hell. ss is damn near complete death; don't drive the last nail home by letting people log in, see 12 people in safe zones (and have been there for the last 8 hours), go "well this shit is stupid" and log out forever. or to trench or eg or any of those other abominations. i've seen it firsthand.
