Nice to see old names on that list. I thought maybe the game was done for. I tried adding SSCX Chaos/League Zone SVS but seems dead as hell sadly. Guess I'll try coming back at a reasonable time and see what's working then.

Even sadder than what you said, Trauma, is the fact that this list is the only place where you see the old names. You don't really see them under spaceships, flying around pewpewing ;(

Yeah, I went in game a few times and asked some questions. Either everybody was afk or just couldn't be bothered to answer. It's kind of a shame. The community is what helps a game grow. Hopefully some of these new clients I see in progress can breathe life into the game again. I like checking in on it every few years just to make sure it's still alive. I don't know if people even mention subspace when they play other games now and eventually someone asks them what else they play.

They kind of maybe should, though. Especially if they are in a clan/squad/team/whatever group that could just try it amongst themselves.

Over the years I've tried to get people to play it. I used to find Alpha was a good intro zone. I think if the game was introduced to people with just Alpha available to them. And as they got more points other zones opened up to them I think it would draw more people into the game. I think if people are willing to look past the interface they will see how amazing the game really is. But like most games it's about the people as well, and this whole old school mentality of bashing newbies instead of helping them kill games. It's sad. Oh well, t'is life.

Newbie bashing is rampant in other games as well. I've been playing League of Legends for... I dunno, about 6 weeks? now, the game is only two years old and has what 32 million players. Granted I'm stuck on the worst realm possible, EUNA with the polish/russian people who really cannot communicate in English at all, but still.



Given the games happen too fast and with random people so you can't work on a newbie even if you try, you will just get a new newbie the next game, people go around yelling at newbies, while in fact they are the ones that screw up. In SVS settings though, the skill gap is insane. Possibly comparable to playing 5 random newbies vs. a team of 5 in counter-strike, or matching up people who have to read tooltips to find out where their units fire (Dre) in starcraft vs. random koreans who know every stat of every unit <img src='http://www.subspace.co/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
