Would you like to see the return of the +1 flag game for a reset?
For those newer to Chaos, this older version gave the flag holder a bonus of +1 lvl bullets and + 1 lvl bombs. As an example, a fully upgraded warbird holding the flag in this game would have level 4 bullets and lvl 3 bombs (the blue kind, like a lev). There was also a version where the flag would not only give the power-ups, but also some countering downgrades, like a slight reduction in speed.

I'm going to have to go nay here. This used to be the standard game type in my "Home" zone Witch Doom. This worked in WD because even a non-powered up ship could overtake a flagged ship with proper application of luck and technique. Would that hold true here as well? Sure. But there are some major differences in how giving that upgrade to a SVS ship vs that upgrade on a WD ship will effect the final potency of the ship. WD ships were balanced Super-Ships(Fast moving, not uncommon to spray groups of 10-20 bombs) In SVS the variance of ship abilities is too closely matched to give one a power up in proximity and bullet damage and not have it be overpowered. The nature of WD ships made the upgrade matter a lot less. It did give you a slight advantage, but not one that would induce complete frustration.
SVS ships are too slow and closely balanced to upgrade them in such a way and not destroy the balance.

Witch Doom! That zone was fun! Do you know how has the settings for that? Maybe we could do an event based off those settings some day!

definite yes. The other flag game sucks balls and is a blight on everything, even other blights.
At least toggle which game is on, reset by reset.

The current flag game does more harm than good and I'll gladly delve into them if anyone wants to argue it. I would much rather see the bullets + bombs level up flag make a return.

I'd be happy for the brass to toggle them ... one or two resets with one flag game, then one or two with the other. Just mix it up ...
Zig ... if you stayed in your lev you'd get lvl4 .. or 5 ... or some shiznit, I was hit by one of those a year or two back and a lamp post shattered outside.

lol.
And yes lev's would get level 4 (purple) and they really hurt! I also remember the first time I got hit by one of those, I felt violated and confused after.

Yes indeed. L4s! However in this particular SVS setting, L4's are a death sentence. If this game comes to be, and I am flying a lev, I would be wise to avoid the flag. Problem 1) The increase in energy cost to fire. Fire two of these bad boys and your pushing it. Problem 2) The Prox. Now I just fired two and then I take some of my own prox damage, hell, Im just about dead!
If you don't agree with me, go ahead and lev it up and get that flag, and Ill show you a problem not inherent to the settings, but to the conduct of the zone in general.

As far as I know, you cannot have the ball give an upgrade if the flags do not. Both can run at the same time.
