Last season or not?
#1
Hi all,

as Caerbannog stated some of players think of this as last season of 4v4 league. As I noticed there are still decent number of active players, so shutting down league would be really bad to see. If we do not manage to keep league alive how about we make some sort of Sunday 4v4 tournament. No roster, players pick their teams on Sunday, half of hour before tournament.

Or any other idea that would work and keep players active?

why wasn't 2v2 league ever taken up again?

myself and a few others used to bring in some players for 2v2 but the lack of a league for it made us lose motivation.

not a big fan of 4v4 (aka not good enough to get good at it). would 4v4 players not play 2v2 league or what?

The reason it originally died was due to no-shows. It ran on saturdays (I think), and the games only took about 5-15 minutes. If we were to bring it back we'd need to figure out a better league format/schedule (Saturdays would be good, if people are willing to show up for like 3 matches per weekend).

We haven't had a consistent host either, and the status of the bots is a mystery (regarding schedules, roster).

4v4 Will at least attempt to run more seasons. Feel free to bring in a squad or two (just for a few equally matches games a season). If you bring enough, we'll split the league into PRO and AML <img src='http://www.subspace.co/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':p' />

This season was too small for AML and PRO split. I'd rather see a larger playoffs, shorten season maybe instead or something, than what we had this season. Do something better than the format it is right now where some squads never play and others play 3 times. Make each squad play every other squad once or twice depending on the amount of teams. Cut it into 2 randomized divisions maybe if there's still a lot of squads then play your own division squads twice and the other division squads once. Top 2 from each division ranks top 4 in league and then the rest run it out based on their W-L and ignore division at that point. Really it depends how many squads there are, but our current system is really dumb especially with such few squads as there is. I'd rather play Assassins, Sterling, Outlaws, and The Dark at least once during the season than bye round 3 times, and other bottom tiered squads multiple times because we got off to a slow start. Current system is killing game, period.

Two divisions with what we have seems odd. It'd just mean Assassins have to wait until the playoffs to play TD/OL/Ster (well, 2 of the 3). So reg season for them would be a complete joke <img src='http://www.subspace.co/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Big Grin' />

Then again, by majority decision, a fixed schedule would probably be more interesting to most squads. The top and bottom are the ones that get shafted the most in it.

Happy Mob also joined mid-season... that wouldn't be possible in a fixed schedule, or maybe it would.

Input from other squad captains or individuals would greatly be appreciated.

2 divisions would only be if there was a large season, but I doubt there will be. But I would prefer a fixed schedule for sure, it makes it more fun than playing the same 3 squads all season long.

We didn't join mid-season you fool. We been there since game 1, not sure what cheeba you smokin. And I don't think we will really have an issue of squads joining mid season. But you can still work that into a fixed schedule, it will just result in a changed schedule but you can still have all teams play all other teams still. Except the new team might not play a couple squads since they would be playing less games of course.

Yes, all players who are willing to participate. Cant force someone to play. On the other side, prepare for "player showing up just in time when their teamate is about to pick etc...". Still think it would be fun to try.

Wait I have an idea. How about having the robotics ref games at any time the squads would like to play each other rather than limit it to just Sundays. And if that can't be done, how about we not play fucking games during the Super Bowl you stupid cunts.

edit: Also since Jersey Shore has exploded in popularity, all games should be cancelled on Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends since those are the greatest times to be at the jersey shore.

Sounds like you're talking about a never ending challenge-ladder based league, unless you still limit it to playing a certain squad at any time during the week.

One, set squad, at any point during the week, we could do as long as there's a referee to !refload the gameid while the bots cannot access the db to automatically announce etc. The scheduler itself is not limited to Sundays.

Or we could do that kind of unofficially, to see if anyone even wants to play "official" games during the week. Set the games up on forums, play them, post the gameid, edit the standings.

As for superbowl and most other US only holidays, you know the drill, they do not count as international holidays. I had one mandatory game for superbowl this year, and the other 2 could've been played the week after. Outlaws and The Dark decided to play 2 on superbowl sunday. Go figure.
