The Results:
3/4 3:57 pm FTNguyen def Assassins 12-6 log
3/4 3:31 pm Rebels def StarFire Elite 12-8 log
3/4 2:58 pm MiS def Llamas 12-6 log
3/4 2:29 pm Sterling def Renegade 12-0 log
FTNGuyen vs. Assassins was a rather fast paced game for what might be the top-tier match. Sika wasted 4 repels, while getting targetted at the start. GRAMPS failed to get a kill, but did get an assist on ossi's TKO on Mop.
Rebels seem to have taken down SFE 12-8. This must've been a game suitable for ZDeathX, since it has 20 total kills and lasted 15:45. Something Dutch MVP'd it all with ease on 5-3 7FR and +23 robotpoints.
MiS beat Llamas 12-6 after failing a fullsub on Megaman, but after some phone calls or just the swedes' gaydar Pry showed up and fullsubbed the sub. Then finished 3-0.
Sterling showed 3, Renegade showed 2. 12-0.
Standings 4/14:
1 FTNguyen 4-0 39 0.521
2 MiS 3-1 19 0.458
3 Rebels 3-1 9 0.451
4 Assassins 2-2 0 0.556
5 Sterling 2-2 -1 0.597
6 Llamas 1-3 -12 0.583
7 Renegade 1-3 -30 0.41
8 StarFire Elite 0-4 -24 0.424
Schedule for Round 5:
3pm:
Assassins vs. Renegade
Rebels vs. Sterling
4pm:
Llamas vs. StarFire Elite
FTNGuyen vs. MiS

Hello Premier,
I need 1 or 2 commentators for a multi-zone radio show that I'm putting together.
The idea is to make a show once a week where we have match results / comments of the most important leagues in SubSpace, and also "live coverage" of the more interesting matches of each league.
Besides that I'm also going to include some music, skits and other content made by SS players and related to SS.
I think everything except the live coverage will be pre-recorded.
Let me know if you're interested.

The Results:
2/26 3:37 pm MiS def StarFire Elite 12-5 log
2/26 3:18 pm FTNguyen def Sterling 12-0 log
2/26 2:49 pm Assassins def Rebels 12-5 log
2/26 2:39 pm Llamas def Renegade 12-3 log
MiS vs. SFE didn't offer many surprises, except the return of Megaman. SFE held their own, the first out was at 6-4 score, then it was downhill from there. Captor ended up 4-1, still losing the MVP race to Arctos by a single robo-point.
Sterling showed 2 and called it a forfeit.
Assassins steamrolled Rebels after starting the game 3v3, although they had more than 4. Looks like this only lasted for about a minute until Riverside showed up for Rebels. With that preparation I'd say 12-5 is a decent score.
Llamas defeat Renegade in a rather uneventful 12-3 fashion. Hedcase8 used a rocket, which was the highlight of the game.
Now, there IS such a thing as maximum no-shows for squads, and this was the second week in a row Sterling no-showed. It's much better to just give people a BYE round than to have them show up not to play.
Rosters for players on rosters will be locked prior to Round 4. If you are on a squad at round 4, you will finish this season on that squad.
Standings after R3/14:
1 FTNguyen 3-0 33 0.537
2 MiS 2-1 13 0.426
3 Assassins 2-1 6 0.426
4 Rebels 2-1 5 0.593
5 Llamas 1-2 -6 0.611
6 Sterling 1-2 -13 0.685
7 Renegade 1-2 -18 0.389
8 StarFire Elite 0-3 -20 0.333
Schedule for Round 4:
3pm:
Renegade vs. Sterling
Llamas vs. MiS
4pm:
FTNGuyen vs. Assassins
StarFire Elite vs. Rebels

Safe Zone Time - opinions? |

Revisiting the safe zone time after the 9 hour experiment. Please vote, and state your thoughts below.
I've not put in poll choices for "no safe zones" because Chaos has always had safe zones and lame safe zone play (like J12), and that's not going away. Also when safe zone time was 5 minutes, rather than forcing people back on the field to play as those advocating that short a time had hoped, the targets simply went to spec or left, yielding a lower population. So I've not included that choice either because we've tried it and it didn't work well for anyone.
--15 mins The Retail Release SVS (RR-SVS) setting. My opinion: Something of a balance between "taking a break" and "still playing the game" in that hunters could wait out the 15 minutes.
--45 mins Allows enough time to grab a quick meal. Requested by many people, and when it was put in the feedback was very positive. Did it increase zone population? Not much, but it did not decrease it.
--9 hours Requested with the speculation that it would lead to higher btys which would lead to higher population. Extraordinarily high btys can bring people into the zone to hunt, but they can also skew the Ave and Rating competition through a small number of kills; so it's not all positive. Enough time to go to work or sleep and come back.
To me, there is little difference between 45 mins and 9 hours in terms of game play. Both are ridiculously long periods of time for a real time game; the action comes to a halt longer than any player is willing to actively wait in either case. Did it increase population? Not significantly. Decrease? No. Feedback has been quite positive, with several people changing their minds over the course of the reset from "don't like" to "like."
Downsides of 9 hr safe time (or any long safe time):
First, any exploit possible with a 9 hr safe time is also possible with a 45 min one (or 15 mins for that matter), it's just the effort involved in executing it.
--Streak exploits. Sit in safe with the streak and wait for the zone to get very quiet, then bring in a friend and kill them over and over with no one else around. This is not new, really, and would be dealt with the same ways that are used to keep the integrity of Streaks and of the Reset Winners competition (disqualification, etc.).
--Antiwarp in safe for hours. People speculated at the beginning that this would happen. I thought only occasionally would someone accidentally leave aw on. No one could possibly be a big enough troll to intentionally do this for more than a short period of time (meaning that 3 months from now, no one would be sitting in safe every day to annoy people). Right? Well Mr. Explosion decided to try and be that very troll himself, in order prove that being a troll was possible and would be bad. BAD! Or something. Only a couple of players were upset by his action. The vast majority of people had no problem with him making it clear that he's a troll. There are ways to deal with this (and all trolls), so I don't consider this an issue if we keep long safe times.
--Holding the streak. We saw Gadianton hold the streak an entire day sitting in safe. This is the only real downside I see to long safe times -- not so much that the a personal Streak can be held that long (Gad did nothing wrong here), but that it prevents the Streak from being part of the normal, active conversation during play. If someone is sitting in safe, not playing, there are no announcements of who has the Streak, which is a goal for some of the players. The Streak was conceived as a continuous playing effort, during 15 min safe times, so short breaks were possible. There are solutions for this including going to safe for any length of time ending a streak; or a streak ending after sitting in safe for X amt of time. I'm not fond of these solutions. This still needs consideration.
As always in Chaos, with the various goals that different players have, there will be a variety of opinions ;) Thoughts?
