  SVS Leagues History wiki
Posted by: Nude For Satan - 02-05-2015, 07:52 AM - Forum: History / Nostalgia - Replies (8)

Over the past ... I dunno how long ... I've been scouring the net and people's heads for historical info on leagues in SVS Subspace competition. Now's probably a good time to link it here. In a wiki format, with basically zero bells or whistles, but just timeline data, I've collated everything I could find. So here it is, hopefully it's a bit of fun to look through, maybe even of use for the odd argument here and there.

>>> http://svsleagues.shoutwiki.com/ <<<

A few things to understand:

  • I haven't made it pretty. That wasn't the point. Sure, maybe one day. Not high on priorities. I'm already regretting some formatting conventions. I am not a web designer. I'm just a nerd with a lot of time on my hands.
  • Its not finished, and never will be. Clearly there are heaps of holes ... I do have more info to integrate, but its a wiki ... which means an eternal work in progress. Anyone can contribute. It can grow so long as more info is ever out there to be found.
  • So feel free to add stuff. You can pass info to me, or edit the site yourself. Just try to make sense, and remember to cross-reference. Ask me if you are unsure what to do or how to do it. I am notified about any changes.
  • ALIASES - Some aliases are linked. Some are not. In general, people no longer around got their aliases linked (if I knew them - there would be hundreds that I don't know). If they're still playing, I didn't, unless if I chatted with them and they said it was ok. A lot of obvious matches are there but that's up to the player if they are current. There might be some rare exceptions, but that's just me being inconsistent. Clearly obvious alternative names like Benji v B3NJ1, I tended to link. Again, work in progress. Most people would probably like to see all their info on one page.
  • Warzone and Powerball are little more than placeholders at the moment. I have some data, just haven't got around to it yet. Wanted to publicise the wiki before the finals came up. Dueling League (2v2) is still to come. Gladiator needs more filling out. Euro league is lacking a lot of data, especially Delta and Gamma. tbh Pro/IML & AML got the most focus.
Some pages of note:
- http://svsleagues.shoutwiki.com/wiki/Category:Players (I just want you to see the number of links Big Grin - housebound, with OCD - what do you expect!)
- http://svsleagues.shoutwiki.com/wiki/Editor%27s_Arena - handy hints I rushed together to try to keep control in case every man and his dog wants to contribute
- http://svsleagues.shoutwiki.com/wiki/Media - essentially all the match videos and a couple of easter eggs down the bottom
- http://svsleagues.shoutwiki.com/wiki/Website_References_Catalogue - nostalgia ftw!

If you see errors, or just have info you'd like to include, by all means go for it: tell me or edit the site directly. I'll clean up any struggles with consistent format.

A lot of people have helped, generally providing info. Some of the ones who've offered a heap of info include Gruntster, Hallu, hendrix, Peeking Duck?, High Gain, twIsta, Three, Plutorus, Mighty Sven, Bargeld, Ra, Underlord, Benji, Caerbannog, Pryde - and many, many more. Thanks to everyone who put up with my questions.

Ok hope you enjoy. I suck at playing so wanted to give something other than 250 ping of aussie badness.

3pm:

AML Game 1 Llamas vs. Backarrow -- 1295311
Noob exhibition SFE vs. Symphony, maybe.

4pm:
PRO Game 1 Assassins vs. The Dark -- 1295312

Solar Hydro from SFE wanted to play Symphony for the AML Bronze medal, one of the most prestigious SS achievements.. if Symphony want to do this, let me know. I'll schedule it. Theoretically Outlaws and Critical Mass could do the same thing for the PRO bronze, but I don't think they would be too keen to. Let me know though.

Rainbow Subspace & Squad themed shirts, caps etc by a tool - request your squad on a tee!
Posted by: a tool - 01-27-2015, 07:15 PM - Forum: Files, Downloadables & Cool Links! - Replies (23)

i don't know how many of you nerds would actually wear any of this out in public, but i did get around to doing a spreadshirt page.

http://buttes.spreadshirt.com

here's the deal: i am a lazy fucking asshole when it comes down to me printing these things and it's a colossal pain in the ass to deal with UPS/post office on the daily. the pricing on spreadshirt is a big high for my tastes; i can't see spending more than like 10spacebux on a fucking tee shirt, so meh. note, also, since i'm not the one doing the actual printing, i cannot guarantee the quality. it might be some iron-on shit like cafepress.

i'm probably like 15 years too late on this, but whatever.

ALSO: apparently i get a whole whopping dollar commission off these. regarding shit like this, though, it's not about the money.

  GoH - Pro Season 05
Posted by: Nude For Satan - 01-12-2015, 04:45 PM - Forum: History / Nostalgia - Replies (5)

Anyone know/remember what "GoH" stood for?

GoH was a team that formed from ONE's players in Season 05. GoH played 5 rounds, but then ONE reformed and replaced them for the remainder of the season.

Just wondering what the acronym stood for (assuming it's an acronym).

3pm:

1-0 StarFire Elite vs. Dropships -- 1294521

All of the above, if necessary.

Assassins confirmed to play the winner of Sterling vs. Critical mass, leaving the winner of The Dark and Cosmic Rift to be demolished by the mighty Outlaws wink wink nudge nudge.
Backarrow didn't respond with anything, so they play the winner of SFE vs. Dropships in the semis.

EDIT: Gameid for sterling vs critical mass

  Make pracs interesting again
Posted by: Arctos - 01-08-2015, 11:50 AM - Forum: Pro League Discussion - Replies (5)

First of all I'm not a coder and can't make bots so this is just a spurt of ideas on how we could make everyday pracs more fun assuming we have someone who can change the bots or make new ones. Pracs nowadays are only really interesting when you are playing squad vs squad and some of these ideas can even help certain players understand how to play the game properly.

These games could all be played within the same basic setup as a normal 4v4 game with the same ship settings. Possibly same bot with just different game modes that you can chose/vote on before the prac starts. Also, the bot should allow players to just get in line and be assigned randomly to a team to minimize the possibility of stacking.

Protect the king
- At the start of the game one player on each team is announced to everyone as "The King".
- Both teams goal is to kill the king three times to win the game.

Hunt down the gimp (if gimp is offensive to someone we can call it the cunt)
- At the start one player on each team secretly becomes "The Gimp" which is announced only to that player, which he of course can tell his team.
- The other teams goal is to find and kill him and when he is dead another player on the same team becomes the gimp.
- Kill the gimp three times to win the game.

All ships (this has been used somewhere, forgot where)
- At the start of a game everyone starts in a warbird. When you die you get a jav, etc until you are in the shark. The first team to kill any shark wins.

Assassination
- Starts out as a normal prac. At intervals one player on each team becomes the target which is announced to everyone. The team that kills the other target first gets a point. First to 3,5,10? points wins.

Point based game
Not sure how some of this would be possible but it's an idea. Make a points based game instead of a set number of lives per player. You get points for certain basic goals. For example:

- Forcing a rep, 5 points
- Killing someone, 10 points
- Killing someone who still has reps, 20 points
- Teamkill, -15 points
- etc.

This can then be combined into combos. For example:

- Bonus multiplier (* 1.2) for every team member who does damage related to a kill.
- Two kills within a certain time range, * 1.5 for each kill (Bot announce: DOUBLE KILL!).
- Three kills within a certain time range, * 2.0 for each kill (Bot announce: MULTI KILL!).
- Four kills within a certain time range, you automatically win the game. (Bot announce: GOD LIKE!)
- Get everyone on the other team down to 0 reps before scoring a kill, the next kill then scores * 3.
- etc.

Rewards could also be added, example:
- A player who alone scores a double kill, is rewarded with super/shields for 60 seconds. (Bot announce: RAMPAGE!)
- For every three reps you force alone, you get rewarded with an extra rep.
- etc.

First team to a fixed number of points (100?) wins.

Thoughts, other ideas? The point is like I said to get rid of the tediousness of normal random pracs, while still allowing players to work and better themselves in different aspects of 4v4 games. These are just off the top of my head and needs to be tweaked and tested of course and like I said some of it might not even be possible. If anyone with some bot coding skills wants to proceed with this or something similar I will gladly help out in any way I can.

/Arc
