The bots were down so preseason was canceled (read: postponed to this upcoming weekend, provided the bots are there).



There have been a few people asking me about still getting on a draft squad. We cannot infinitely bloat the roster size for them up, at least before it is proven than 25 isn't enough.



So here's my plan for now, After 2 rounds, so before round 3, we have a draft revamp thing where the captains get to axe people who haven't showed up, and pick up people who at least claim to be interested. I know there were at least 3 of these people, but thanks to a technical failure (I forgot to save my notepad <img src='http://www.subspace.co/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> ) I lost one of the messages.

There should be no round 1 match-ups in this, but I'm not sure.

Here are your match-ups. The times will be assigned during the weeks between rounds, because it's simply too much work to get them right now (I have to dodge assigning the same time to all two active staff members and all).

Real squad rosters - max is still 14, rosters will be semi-locked all season. You cannot freely edit them, find a way to contact me or some other staffer to add people to your roster.



You cannot add people on Sundays. After the rosters lock for real (round 6 or so), you cannot remove people from your roster either. Due to the rules being quite silly, both the captain and the player added need to confirm all movement.



Draft squad rosters - 25. The limit is higher so hopefully there won't be no-shows. The rosters are quite stacked, but not all people are expected to show up, and some might have their own games / squad pracs and whatnot. You cannot add players to your draft roster.

Here's the plan.



Plan a:

Arctos and hopefully two other captains (or three) will all be online next Saturday during and more importantly, after MoC. If all else fails, I'll let the newbies who want to play on the draft teams actually captain them, if they happen to be on. The season stats from last season should provide them with some idea about who to possibly pick.



I will post a full list of the draft pool players with the newbies separated, since they'll be picked first to waste slots.



We'll randomly randomize the draft order and go 1 2 3, 2 3 1, 3 1 2, 1 2 3 and so on and so on until each captain has chosen 20 players with a maximum of THREE players from any single squad, including the draft captain.



Like I said before, you only draft once. This is not like powerball, where you seem to constantly be picking players to your team like it's 4v4 back in 1998.



The players on the draft squads then make up an alias they actually want to be rostered on (you better do this way before any given Sunday, so we can confirm the player, and also because rosters will mostly be locked for free editing during the season). Draft rosters will not be edited during the season, other roster movement will be ok within some limits (round 6, which is about half the season).



Plan b:

Arctos doesn't show up, none of the people in the draft show up, and no one else wants to suddenly cap a draft team. We'll scrap the draft team idea, see if the draft newbies want to form a squad amongst themselves and get 0-12'd every game and go on with the season. Thus concluding that no matter how ofter people ask for a draft league, there's no way to pull it off unless it's a side league on a day that is not Sunday, or just make it the whole damn show which is risky.



In either plan: You do not have to draft yourself. You count as +1 player towards the limit of 20.

Season 30 League structure and roster system



We'll aim for about 14 squads.

We currently have 10 "real" squads. By a real squad I meant a squad with a roster that the captain has put together, ie. Assassins.



Draft squads will be composed of chaos / other zone people who signed up AND players from existing squads.

This is the only allowed double squad method for existing people. So no, you cannot form a B-squad with the same people to guarantee two games a weekend. Someone was confused about this.



The draft will happen _ONCE_. The same drafted rosters will stay together for the duration of the season. So no, you're not supposed to draft new players each weekend. Someone was confused about this.



Example 1: Mop runs Assassins, and is rostered on Assassins. Arctos drafts Mop for his Draft squad "Evil Platypi", Mop has to come up with a clever alias like Mop2 to roster on that squad, and that's it.

Mop cannot also play on The Dark.



Example 2: Nude For Satan is on the draft list, but not on a "real" squad. NFS is drafted, let's say to Arctos' squad. Nude For Satan could still be picked up by any captain to play for their "real" squad, but not another draft squad.



Example 3: mindriot is rostered on Mineshack, but is not drafted to a draft squad. Mindriot will be able to change his real squad later, until roster lock, but will not ever be able to join a draft squad during this season.



The schedule will look something like

Squad 1 vs. Squad 2. - mismatch

Squad 1 vs. Squad 3. - close match

Squad 1 vs. Draft 1.

Squad 1 vs. Squad 4. - mismatch

Squad 1 vs. Squad 5. - close match

Squad 1 vs. Draft 2.



I'll try to dictate which squads are on par with which other squads, possibly getting input from whoever I see online at the time I do all this. I'll split the schedule up in a way where draft games are a few weeks apart and you never play all the top 3 squads in a row.

This should make more sense than an alphabetical order, and should be as doable, I think.

Some of you might know about season 30, estimated to start mid-August.

The season will involve draft squads. For these squads to exist, we need captains. Basically what you would do as a draft captain is

1) Guarantee a spot on a draft squad (not all players will fit in, there won't be that many draft squads.)

2) Pick the players on your draft squad

3) Get to see if those players respect you enough to use some sort of general game play plan that you make up <img src='http://www.subspace.co/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
